Families in Conwy are encouraged to take advantage of free school lunches for primary school children starting in September.
The initiative aims to provide nutritious meals that meet food regulations to help kids focus on learning.
All pupils in Conwy primary schools have been able to take advantage of a free school lunch since September 2023, following the Welsh Government rolling out the Universal Free School Meals initiative.
Conwy Primary Schools provide a healthy, varied menu, with choices every day. The meals meet the nutritional standards and values for energy and nutrients for food and drink requirements throughout the school day as set out in The Healthy Eating in Schools (Wales) Regulations 2013.
Cllr Julie Fallon, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Education said: “Most children in Conwy’s Primary schools have a school lunch, which provides a nutritional meal to help them concentrate on their learning.
“The food we serve in our schools can make a positive contribution towards giving children and young people a healthy, balanced diet and encouraging them to develop good eating habits.”
The menus for the autumn term are available on the Council’s website: Primary School Lunchtime Menu Checker - Conwy County Borough Council.
