From Llangollen to Rhyl: Young people get stuck in

September 15, 2026 - 190 views

Ten young people from across Denbighshire have gained new skills and qualifications through a summer personal development course run by Denbighshire Youth Service.

The Summer SKITTLES course brought together young people from a range of backgrounds for a programme combining practical activities, new experiences and personal development.

All ten participants achieved qualifications in Food Hygiene, First Aid and the Agored Phoenix course.

The programme was delivered with support from North Wales Police Community Support Officers, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, St John Ambulance and Working Denbighshire.

Participants also spent time on a residential stay at Bryn Tysilio in Llangollen and completed a community garden project at the VIBE Station in Rhyl. The new garden is intended to provide a space that can be enjoyed by the wider community.

Denbighshire Youth Service says the course helped participants build confidence, develop practical skills and gain experience which could support future employment or college opportunities.

Young people aged between 16 and 25 who are interested in future courses can contact James Salisbury at Denbighshire County Council.
