Grants worth £4m for community and grassroots sport in Wales

The COVID-19 lockdown in North Wales has had wide repercussions for whole of our community and sport is just one area that has been badly hit.

The virus has had a big impact on community sport, shutting down activity and posing serious financial risk to many community clubs in Wales.

Not only has this placed an unprecedented level of risk to clubs to operate it has restricted the ability of people from across Wales to engage in sport and physical activity which is vitally important to the physical, social and emotional health of individuals and families.

Sport Wales has announced that they have just launched the Be Active Wales Fund is to Protect and Prepare Welsh sport. 

To reflect the many challenges ahead, the fund aims to invest £4m in community and grassroots sport.

Grants from £300 to £5000 are available for emergency support to protect clubs and community organisations or groups that are at immediate financial risk.

The fund will also provide financial support to help prepare clubs and community organisations or groups to restart, respond to, or grow participation, in direct response to Covid-19.
