82 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported over the past day along with 11 new deaths according to the 2pm bulletin from Public Health Wales.

There have been 17 local cases with 5 new cases in Conwy and 12 in Denbighshire. Overall there have been 30 new cases reported in North Wales with over half these coming from the Conwy and Denbighshire areas.

Both areas are now showing a high concentration of cases per 10,000 people. Health leaders are urging people who live locally to excercise the highest level of precaution especially as lockdown measures ease slightly from Monday.

Dr Giri Shankar, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said:

“We welcome the announcement Welsh Government made on Friday that people from two different households in the same local area will be able to meet up outdoors from Monday, provided they continue to maintain social distancing and strict hand hygiene.

“The announcement adds that, as a general rule, people should not travel more than five miles from home. This will help to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading as people begin to travel more.

“Over the weekend, current social distancing rules remain in effect - stay home, protect the NHS, and save lives.

“Future relaxation of lockdown measures will also be dependent on everyone following advice set out in the ‘Test, Trace, Protect’ strategy, including self-isolating when required."
