As our local charity shops open, St David’s Hospice is encouraging its supporters to have a ‘Big Spring Clean’.
The Hospice shops rely solely on the donation of saleable items to raise funds to care for their patients and their families, who are living with a life limiting illness.
From today the Donation Centres in Mochdre, Llandudno and Gaerwen will have a booking system in place to ensure a safe drop-off of donated goods.
Head of Retail and Facilities, Janet Magill said: “We are so relieved to be able to open our shops and Donation Centres again. We have over twenty shops and all rely heavily on the Donation Centres to collect donations and to organise stock before it is delivered to each store.’’
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who kindly donate their items to us and would love for everyone to spend a little time to put a box or two together for St David’s Hospice.’’
“As before, we are following all Government advice and social distancing measures are in place. The booking system is in operation to ensure donations can be dropped off as safely as possible and we’d ask that you only arrive during your time slot.
"Unfortunately, we will have to turn people away without a booking. Due to the safety and storage, we would like to encourage all to take the items to the Donations Centres and not to the shops on the high street.”
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can sign up to the Hospice Retail Gift Aid scheme on arrival and your donations of goods will be worth an extra 25% to the charity when they are sold.
Alternatively, a Gift Aid donation form can be found online at www.stdavidshospice.org.uk/support-us/shop-with-us/, along with the locations of the centres, in addition to a list of items which can and can’t be accepted.
