Strong winds of up to 70 miles per hour have been forecast for North Wales later today, followed by the possibility of heavy rain.

A yellow weather warning is in place from this evening through until Thursday night and it is expected to impact mostly on North West Wales.

According to the Met Office there is the possibility that Colwyn Bay and the North East of Wales may escape the worst of the weather as the yellow warning is expected to border on the Conwy area.

However areas along the West coast of Wales are expected to be the hardest hit including Anglesey, Caernarfon, the Lleyn Peninsula, Harlech and Barmouth.

While winds may temporarily ease on Thursday morning, a band of heavy rain could move in later bringing with it some localised squally winds.

A warning is in place from 20:00 BST on Wednesday until 23:59 on Thursday.
