Home fans support will be vital for 'knife-edge' Prestatyn game

Colwyn Bay manager Craig Hogg says his side will need a big home crowd to get behind them in Friday evening's home game against Prestatyn Town.

The Bay are currently four points ahead of Prestatyn in the JD Cymru North table, but have played two games more, and their visitors are unbeaten in their last four league and cup games - including a 6-0 win in the Welsh Cup last weekend.

Oddly this will be their first away game of the season, with their previous seven league and cup games all being at home.

"It is going to be difficult and  I think that 'twelfth man' is something we'll need," said Hogg.

"I went to watch Prestatyn last Saturday and I was impressed with what I saw. They are a very good side with a good management team and a number of good players.

"But hopefully we can go out and perform in front of our fans and give them a performance that will see them get behind us."

Cai Owen and Sam Downey are back in contention after the manager  could not select them for last Friday's cup win at Gresford.

"The two players travelled to the game and we were expecting to  include them in the matchday squad, only to find our an hour before kick off that, for whatever reason, they were not eligible to play - and we still don't know why," said Craig.

"The club have contacted the FAW for clarification on the matter. I believe there were similar issues over the Welsh Cup weekend, with other clubs also not being able to select players."

The clubhouse bar will be open from 5:30pm for Friday's game.
