Janet Finch Saunders has been voted Senedd member for Aberconwy in a breaking result this afternoon.

She has increased her majority from 754 last time to 3,336 this year.

Mrs. Finch-Saunders represented the ward of Craig-y-Don and Craig side in Llandudno as a Conwy County Borough Councillor for 8 years and Llandudno Town Council for 17 years. In 2004 she was elected as the Mayor of Llandudno, following in the footsteps of her parents, both of whom have been long serving Welsh Conservative Councillors in Aberconwy.

In her previous council role of Cabinet member Janet held the portfolio for Community Safety, Disabilities and Equalities, Food Safety, Animal Welfare, Trading Standards, Member Development and the Welsh language.

In 2008, Mrs Finch Saunders became the Welsh Conservative Group Leader and Leader of the Opposition on Conwy County Borough Council. She has previously stood for the Welsh Parliament in 2003 in Wrexham and in 2007 on the North Wales regional list.

She has held the Aberconwy seat in the Senedd since 2011.
