Jordan Davies scored a hat-trick to take his season’s goals tally into double figures (12) as the Seagulls beat second-in-the-table Penybont 5-4 at the Blue Turtle Arena.

Jamie Cumming and Sol Forde were the other scorers for Bay, who were 5-2 up, but conceded two goals in added time at the end of a game played in torrential rain.

In a whirlwind start three goals came in the first nine minutes with Jamie Cumming getting the first on six minutes after Jordan Davies’ deflected shot fell for him following a corner.

Penybont equalised two minutes later through Jamie Crole’s header, but the Bay hit straight back and Sol Forde scored his second goal of the season to make it 2-1.as Penybont failed to clear the ball from a long throw.

Jordan Davies curled great finish into the top corner from the edge of the area on 20 minutes and then headed his second nine minutes later from an Aron Williams cross to the far post.

Penybont pulled a goal back right on half-time through Mael Davies when the ball stuck in the mud in the goalmouth, but three minutes into the second half Jordan Davies completed his hat-trick when he latched onto a long ball and rounded the keeper to score.from a tight angle.

Both sides had half chances in the worsening conditions, with the visiotrs coming closest when Crole hit the bar, but for the most part Bay looked fairly comfortable with Nathan Peate outstanding at the back, and it was disappointing that Penybont were able to score two goals in added time at the end of the game through Ioan Phillips and Owen Pritchard to make the game seem much closer that it actually was.

Colwyn Bay, however, took the points to move back into the top five.
