North Wales Police are warning owners of any vehicles with "keyless" entry to please be vigilant and increase security after a series of thefts of cars.
In Conwy and Denbighshire, the force have had numerous reports of what appears to be sophisticated and organised theft of vehicles such as Mercedes Benz, BMW and VW vehicles which have "keyless" entry.
One vehicle stolen in the last few days has been traced to a location in the West of England and several arrests have been made however at present it seems that those arrested are involved in the disposal of the stolen vehicles not the thefts themselves.
As such while the suspects remain outstanding owners should consider the use of pouches to block the signal from their car keys when at home to prevent thieves from being able to scan for the signal from the key in order to steal the vehicles.
Sgt Dan Ball from the Colwyn Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team advises: "Owners of vehicles which have keyless entry technology are advised to obtain anti-theft car key pouches which will help prevent these kinds of thefts and are available for only a few pounds either on line or from motoring shops.
"Taking these simple preventative measures will significantly increase your security and hopefully prevent these gangs from taking your much beloved car".
