Tomorrow night sees a Battle of the Bays at The Blue Turtle Arena as Kinmel Bay face Colwyn Bay in Round Two of the JD Welsh Cup.
The North Wales Coast East Premier Division side were drawn at home but accepted Colwyn Bay’s offer to stage the tie.
To reach Round Two they knocked out Chirk AAA on penalties, followed by wins over Tier 3 teams Llangollen Town and Llanfair United.
One of Kinmel Bay’s management team is Leon Field, who was part of the Colwyn Bay side that won the North Wales Floodlit League in 2000.
“There’s a real mix of excitement and nerves throughout the camp,” he said.
“We’re stepping onto the pitch against a top side in Colwyn Bay Football Club, a team that operates several tiers above us and is packed with quality from front to back.
“That said, we won’t be sitting back or changing who we are. We’ll play our natural game, the same way that’s got us this far.”
Bay manager Mike Wilde said the game would be “a brilliant occasion.”
“It probably stinks of a Cup upset, that’s what people are thinking straight away,” Wildey said.
“We’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
Turnstiles and Clubhouse open from 5:30pm with Kick-off at 7:30pm
