Multi-agency searches will resume this evening following the potential sighting of a body in the sea near Llandudno yesterday.
The sighting came shortly after 7pm during air searches for 16-year-old Athrun, who has been missing since Saturday May 10th.
Members of the coastguard and underwater search team carried out searches in the water during the night and early this morning, but sadly, a body has not been located.
Whilst work is ongoing to try and locate and recover the body Athrun’s family are being supported by officers.
Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan said: “Sadly, despite the tireless efforts of emergency services overnight and into the early hours of this morning, a body has not been located following the potential sighting yesterday.
“There will be an increased emergency service presence in the West Shore area of Llandudno area again this evening as efforts to locate and recover the body will continue.
“I would once again urge members of the public not to speculate on social media or gather on the beach out of respect for the family during this deeply distressing time.”
