Ahead of 'National Thank You Day' on Sunday, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has encouraged residents to mark the occasion with a ‘small good deed of thanks’, having today gathered with community members and the Marine Conservation Society to carry out a beach clean along Llandudno’s North Shore.
'National Thank You Day' has garnered support from hundreds of organisations, including the Scouts and Guides, the Rotary, the Royal Voluntary Service, and the NHS. Members of the public are being encouraged to mark the days in numerous different ways from picnics to Keep Britain Tidy litter picks.
Marking the day, Mrs. Finch-Saunders said: “Whilst the past 15 months have been incredibly challenging for so many people, it has been heartening to see the residents and organisations of Aberconwy come together to support one another. It is only right that we take a moment to celebrate this blossoming of community spirit.
“There were so many instances of people voluntarily rallying to support others, including the Rotary Club of the Conwy Valley and Golygfa Gwydyr providing a food bank service for the vulnerable.
“Likewise, Alpine Travel offered a community transport service to enable people to access shops to purchase vital supplies and run errands such as picking up prescriptions.
“This is why I would readily encourage residents to mark the occasion with a small good deed of thanks, be it a picnic with loved ones or a voluntary litter pick in your local green space.
“ By building on the spirit of support that has assisted us all through lockdown, and celebrating those who have done good, we can continue ensure a stronger and more caring recovery.”
