Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman suffered serious, life-changing injuries following a late-night collision in Rhyl.
The incident happened at around 11:50pm on Friday 1 May on Russell Road, in the town centre between High Street and Clwyd Street, close to The Swan Public House. The collision involved a car and a pedestrian.
Officers say the driver failed to stop at the scene, but was later identified and arrested.
Detective Inspector Tim Evans of North Wales Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said he was grateful to members of the public who rushed to help the injured woman in the immediate aftermath.
He said: “I am grateful to members of the public who immediately came forward to assist the female pedestrian who has sustained significant life-changing injuries.
“I would like to thank officers and staff for their swift efforts to identify the vehicle and driver.”
A 32-year-old man from the Prestatyn area has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Evans also urged caution sharing speculation online, warning that some information circulating on social media is inaccurate and could potentially impact any future judicial process.
Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact North Wales Police via their website or by calling 101, quoting incident reference O066725.
