Llandudno Lifeboat was yesterday alerted to a report of a boat aground between Llandudno Pier and the jetties on the North Shore.
The inshore lifeboat Dr. Barbara Saunderson was launched promptly, with a three-person crew heading towards the reported location. While establishing communications with the coastguard, the lifeboat crew were informed that the vessel had managed to free itself and was making its way out of the bay.
The lifeboat continued to the vessel’s position, now northeast of Llandudno Pier, to ensure the safety of those onboard. After performing a welfare check and speaking with the occupants, the lifeboat decided to escort the vessel across the bay to ensure there were no further issues.
Once the crew confirmed that the situation was under control, the lifeboat returned to the station for recovery.
Lifeboat helm Bert Williams commented on the callout, saying, "Even though the vessel had managed to free itself, it’s always important to make sure everyone on board is safe and that there are no underlying issues. We were glad to be able to offer assistance."
