Local authorities in Wales disagree on school holiday dates

March 25, 2025 - 718 views

Parents in Wales may face difficulties with childcare and holiday planning as councils are unable to agree on school term dates.

Thirteen councils want the spring half term in 2027 to begin in early February, while nine others, want it to start a week later.

All of the North Wales councils have said that they would support having half term between the 8th and 12th of February, and break up for Easter on March the 19th.

Welsh Government say that they may use their powers to force schools to use the same dates.
