A new £130 million fund for businesses in Wales which is expected to be announced in Wednesday's budget address has been welcomed locally.
Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Senedd for Aberconwy and previous Chair of the Cross Party Group on Small Shops, says she wholeheartedly supports plans to help thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises in Wales and 'level up' opportunities for the country.
The fund is expected to be delivered through the British Business Bank, working closely with local partners, and will help Welsh SMEs to invest and grow.
Commenting on the funding announcement, Mrs. Finch-Saunders said: “Throughout the pandemic the Chancellor has delivered unprecedented support for businesses and their employees, and he is continuing to do so.
“Already in Wales, we have seen the UK Government protect more than 460,000 jobs through the furlough scheme, and provide £173 million in self-employment support. I am pleased that further assistance is to be offered via the British Business Bank.
“Whilst the economy is recovering, it is essential that businesses across Aberconwy and Wales know that support is available should they needed it this winter, so I encourage all to familiarise themselves with the scheme once details are made available”.
