A local MP has said she is “deeply saddened” after a young man died following a serious crash in Gwynedd.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the A499 near Y Ffôr at around 10pm last night. The scale of the response saw four ambulances dispatched to the scene, alongside the Wales Air Ambulance and a Coastguard helicopter.
Despite the efforts of emergency crews, it has since been confirmed that a young man lost his life.
The Welsh Ambulance Service said multiple casualties were treated at the scene, with some airlifted to the specialist trauma unit at Stoke University Hospital. A third casualty was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
Liz Saville-Roberts MP for Dwyfor Meirionydd expressed her condolences to the family and friends of the victim, describing the incident as “heartbreaking” and a tragedy for the local community.
In her post on Facebook she said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of a young man in a road accident near Y Ffôr last night. My heart goes out to his family and his friends. I am also thinking of those who were injured in this incident. I also thank the emergency services for their response in challenging circumstances.“
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
