Local pubs and restaurants report a busy start on reopening

August 03, 2020 - 1711 views

Colwyn Bay and Conwy has taken another step forward towards a new 'normal' with the re-opening of pubs and restaurants indoors from today.

Local businesses reported a good trade, in some cases having to limit numbers to ensure that social distancing and seperation between tables can be acheived.

Bryn Williams' Bistro at Porth Eirias reported a busy start to the day. Celebrity chef and Denbigh born Bryn said: "Full house for breakfast - thank you for all your support".

The Pen-y-Bryn pub in Colwyn Heights had a packed car park over lunchtime as regulars and new diners ventured out to support our local businesses.

Today also coincides with the Eat Out To Help Out scheme which will be helping support many of the participating businesses in the Conwy area as they re-open.

It is hoped that the scheme will give the hospitality trade a boost during what has been a troubling time financially for many businesses.

From today until August 31st, diners can get a 50% discount up to £10 per person when eating at restaurants who are registered with the scheme. This applies to establishments across the whole of the UK not just in Wales.

The scheme will operate on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays only and includes food only, not drinks. Diners are being encouraged to take advantage of the offer as many times as they like.

Not every local restuarant will be taking part in the scheme but to find out who is in North Wales, please visit https://www.gov.uk/guidance/get-a-discount-with-the-eat-out-to-help-out-scheme
