Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is encouraging residents struggling with mental health to use the ICAN Community Hub, Llandudno Railway Station.
Residents can call into the Hub between 1pm and 4pm every Thursday to talk in confidence to an ICAN Connectors about mental health and wellbeing.
The Hub is a partnership between Creating Enterprise and Conwy Mind. Everyone is welcome. More information about the service is available by calling 01492 879907 and emailing info@conwymind.org.uk.
Commenting on access to mental health support, Janet said: “So severe are the concerns about access to support for individuals suffering with mental health conditions in Aberconwy, that I have established a stakeholder group
“With representatives including officials from Conwy Mind, Conwy County Borough Council, North Wales Police, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, and Cartrefi Conwy participating in meetings, we have been covering numerous problems relating to mental health support, and I have been using the levers at my disposal to scrutinise the Welsh Government.
“So far, positive changes include confirmation that the health board is re-launching the North Wales Concordat Group under new support and leadership. It will have the key role of improving the multi-agency support for people in crisis and ensuring that the National Mental Health Conveyance pilot is fully utilised in North Wales.
“I have also secured a commitment from Lynne Neagle MS, Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Welsh Government, that her officials will facilitate a meeting between the Police Liaison Unit in Welsh Government and the Health Board to better understand the concerns in relation to the Health Board’s role as part of the multi-agency response to crisis.
“Whilst I am pleased to be working with stakeholders to try and improve access to mental health support, in the meantime, I encourage residents suffering with mental health to visit the ICAN Community Hub in Llandudno Railway Station where they can access a supportive confidential session”.
