Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that two Conwy projects have benefitted greatly from the latest round of funding from the National Lottery.
In June and July, The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded £307,415 to community projects in Clwyd West.
Centre of Sign-Sight-Sound (Y Ganolfan Arwyddo, Sain a Golwg) have received £298,235 over three years to work with the sensory loss community throughout North Wales to develop awareness training.
This will be accessed by staff of businesses, retailers and tourist sectors, and will develop accessible media clips that will be hosted at historical sites. The aim of the project is to connect the sensory loss community with the wider community in which they live.
Meanwhile, TAPE Community Music and Film in Old Colwyn has received £9,180 to run their inclusive Media Club, supporting people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Issues to improve their skills and confidence through production of films and organisation of events.
Welcoming the funding, Mr. Millar said: “The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest funder of community activity in Wale and enables people and communities to thrive.
“I am absolutely delighted that two projects in my constituency have received such substantial sums.
“Both are doing tremendous work and this funding will enable them to build on that going forward.”
In 2020/21, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed £31 million raised by players of the National Lottery, and including payments to existing grant-holders they were able to pay out over £2.3 million in COVID-19 Top Up grants to provide essential services.
