New campaign to raise awareness of neighbourhood crime

Independent charity Crimestoppers has today launched a focused campaign to raise awareness about neighbourhood crime across Wales.

Starting on 10th June for three weeks, the initiative aims to inform communities, encourage vigilance, and promote anonymous reporting to help create safer neighbourhoods throughout the region.

Neighbourhood crime affects many residents and undermines community safety and wellbeing. It includes issues such as burglary, vehicle theft, anti-social behaviour and other local crimes that impact daily life.

Crimestoppers’ campaign seeks to empower residents to be proactive in safeguarding their communities by recognising suspicious activity and reporting it confidentially. Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity for anyone who provides information, removing barriers to reporting and fostering community involvement.

Hayley Fry, Wales Regional Manager for Crimestoppers, said: “Our communities are strongest when residents work together to address crime. This campaign aims to raise awareness of neighbourhood crime and encourage everyone to play their part in reporting suspicious activity. Remember, when you report through Crimestoppers, your identity remains completely anonymous.”

The campaign will feature digital ads on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, using national assets to reach a broad audience. It will highlight simple ways to report crime and share information securely and anonymously.

In an emergency, or if you see a crime taking place, call the police on 999 or 101.

To pass on crime information completely anonymously, visit the charity’s website www.crimestoppers-uk.org and fill in a secure anonymous online form or call the 24/7 UK Contact Centre on freephone 0800 555 111.

Please note: Computer IP addresses are never traced, and no-one will ever know you contacted Crimestoppers. For telephone calls, there is no caller line display, no 1471 facility and calls have never been traced.
