North Wales Crusaders halfback Brad Billsborough has extended his stay at the club by another season.
Billsborough, who came through the academy system at Super League champions St Helens, joined Crusaders ahead of the 2020 campaign and made a couple of appearances early on before it was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 23-year-old has previous experience in the semi-professional ranks with both Whitehaven and Swinton Lions, along with a stint over in Australia at Grafton Ghosts.
Aside from a spell on the sideline with a broken hand, the halfback was a regular in North Wales’ side throughout 2021 as Anthony Murray’s men secured third place in the League 1 table.
On his new deal, Billsborough said: “I’m over the moon to have signed. 2021 was a really good year for us and I enjoyed every bit of it.
“It’s probably the most enjoyable year I’ve had playing rugby league and that’s down to the lads and coaching staff. We had a taste of what it’s like to take part in play-off footy and hopefully we can take that next step now.
“We’ve got quite a young squad here, but a lot of the lads have played together before and that always helps. It’s massively important that we try to keep everyone together and aim to strengthen the squad year on year.
“The more of the lads we can keep together over the next couple of years to continue our progress, the better. Our aim now has got to be to build on what we did last year.
“The move to the new stadium has been fantastic and there’s a really good atmosphere around the club. The fans have really got behind us and it’d be great to see that continue to grow.”
