Colwyn Bay FC has launched an ambitious five-year plan designed to transform the club both on and off the pitch — signalling a new era built on community, sustainability, and competitive ambition.
In June 2025, long-time supporters and local business-owners The Blue Turtle Group Ltd — Jody and Carly Johnson — became the club’s major shareholders, replacing the previous ownership.
Their vision emphasises Colwyn Bay FC as more than a football club — aiming to make it a “hub for the community” where players, fans, families, and even local groups feel welcome.
As part of this community-first ambition, the club is hosting an official “5 Year Business Strategy” launch event, inviting supporters, players, volunteers, and residents to contribute their ideas for the future.
A central pillar of the strategy is a major investment in club infrastructure. The club’s home ground, now rebranded as The Blue Turtle Arena (formerly Llanelian Road), is set for extensive upgrades: a refurbished and enlarged Club Lounge, a newly built Clubhouse scheduled for summer 2026, and match-day facilities designed to meet modern standards.
Plans also include widening the pitch to comply with UEFA regulations, relocating turnstiles, installing perimeter barriers, and improving spectator and player facilities.
These developments aim not only to support the first team, but to create a venue capable of hosting a broader array of football — from youth and women’s teams to local walking football and community events — operating seven days a week.
Promotion back to the top flight — the JD Cymru Premier — has brought fresh enthusiasm, and Colwyn Bay’s leadership are clear their ambitions stretch beyond mere survival. The club believe a top-six or seventh-place finish is within reach.
To underpin that ambition, the club has secured its current management team. Mike Wilde and assistant Danny Harrison have both signed new three-year contracts, reinforcing long-term continuity and stability at the club.
Off the pitch, the club has also struck a partnership with equipment supplier Net World Sports to supply training gear and matchday equipment across all teams, ensuring that development extends beyond the senior side.
Central to Colwyn Bay’s strategy is the ambition to operate as a sustainable business — combining football with community and social goals. The planned upgrades to The Blue Turtle Arena, expanded use of facilities for youth, women’s and grassroots football, and improved match-day amenities reflect a long-term commitment to embed the club deeper in the local community.
In addition, the club is aware of the wider direction set out by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), which aims to raise facility standards, foster stronger community links and professionalise club operations across Wales. Colwyn Bay FC’s renovations and strategic ambition appear aligned with this national framework.
By inviting supporters, volunteers, residents and local stakeholders to take part in their five-year plan, Colwyn Bay FC is positioning itself as a club built by — and for — the people of Colwyn Bay. The emphasis is on long-term growth, community identity, and making football accessible at all levels, not just for the first team.
The club’s message is clear: this is more than a return to the top flight — it’s the beginning of a sustained project to create a vibrant, inclusive football club that stands for more than just Saturday results.
