Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is keen to make organisations in Denbighshire aware of a new funding pot which is available to provide support into employment.

The Denbighshire People and Skills Key fund is supported by Denbighshire County Council and is funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to provide support into employment.

This Key Fund will deliver on Denbighshire’s mission to support the provision of quality employability support including, learning and training, that enables people of all ages to fulfil their employment potential, both personally and professionally. It will also contribute to the delivery of SPF’s People and Skills priority objectives:

Boost core skills and support adults to progress in work, by targeting adults with no or low-level qualifications and skills in maths, and upskill the working population, yielding personal and societal economic impact, and by encouraging innovative approaches to reducing adult learning barriers.

Reduce levels of economic inactivity through investment in bespoke, intensive, life and employment support tailored to local need using one-to-one keyworker support to improve employment outcomes for specific cohorts who face labour market barriers.

Support people furthest from the labour market to overcome barriers to work by providing cohesive, locally tailored support, including access to basic skills.

Support local areas to fund gaps in local skills provision to support people to progress in work, and supplement local adult skills provision.

Encouraging organisations to apply, Mr. Millar said: “I very much welcome this funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), which is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

“The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK, investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.

"The Denbighshire People and Skills Key Fund is a capacity-building program that supports third sector organisations in Denbighshire - providing one-off revenue and capital grants ranging from £2,000 to £50,000. It aims to enhance employability support, learning and training for people of all ages, contributing to the delivery of SPF's People and Skills priority objectives.

“The Key Fund can support up to 100% of eligible costs. I encourage eligible organisations to find out more information about the fund and how to apply by visiting Denbighshire People and Skills - Cadwyn Clwyd
