A new opportunity is being offered for someone to help shape the future of Llandudno, as applications open for the role of Independent Chair of a brand-new Neighbourhood Board.

The position will lead the creation of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, putting local people at the centre of decision-making as part of a major regeneration programme.

Backed by up to £20 million of long-term UK Government investment, the Pride in Place Programme will focus on areas including Tudno and Mostyn, aiming to deliver a 10-year vision to strengthen the town’s economy, community and environment.

The successful Chair will play a key role in bringing together residents, organisations and partners, helping to guide discussions and ensure local priorities shape how the funding is used.

Leader of Conwy County Borough Council, Councillor Julie Fallon, described the role as a unique opportunity.

She said: “This is a rare chance for someone who truly believes in Llandudno and its future. We’re looking for someone who can bring people together, listen, and help guide a shared vision for change that is led by the community.”

MP Claire Hughes also welcomed the initiative, saying the investment is about giving local people the power to shape the changes they want to see in their community.

The voluntary role is expected to take around eight to ten hours a month, although more time may be needed during the early stages. It is open to individuals with strong local knowledge or a clear connection to the Tudno and Mostyn areas.

While experience in community leadership or regeneration would be beneficial, organisers say the most important qualities are commitment, integrity and a belief in community-led change.

Applications are open until Thursday, 16 April. More information is available on the council’s website.
