Coleg Llandrillo recently hosted its annual 'Higher Education Freshers' Fair', welcoming over 100 new degree and higher education students to the college.
The fair was established to give new students an entertaining and interesting welcome to college, to provide advice and guidance on all the services available, and to give them the chance to build relationships with local businesses and volunteering organisations.
A comprehensive induction programme was put in place to support students over the first days, weeks and months.
The fair, which was held in the £4.5million University Centre Coleg Llandrillo (UCCL) at the college's Rhos-on-Sea campus, was crammed with stalls promoting the most interesting and exciting aspects of Coleg Llandrillo student life.
Representatives from the Students' Union were also present to show students what they can offer them during their time as a student, and beyond.
Students were able to glean information on societies, sports, volunteering opportunities, accessing support, health and well-being, budgeting and funding support. They were also given the chance to sign up to a range of enrichment activities, start up their own societies, and even run for a Student Union position.
External organisations which attended included: Traveline, Conwy County Borough Council, NSPCC, Big Ideas Wales, Undeb Bangor and the Royal Voluntary Service. There were also members from the college's student welfare team, enterprise team and travel office present to answer any questions.
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's student enrichment officer, Sarah Wynn Griffiths, said: "Freshers' Fairs are a great way to kick-start the new academic year on a positive note, giving students a clear view of the opportunities and the support available to them.
"We are committed to ensuring that students have a great experience at college and that they know where to turn for effective and timely support, if and when it is needed".
The number studying on university-level courses has increased steadily year-on-year.
Today, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has around 1,200 higher education students studying on 50 different degree courses, with over 400 students graduating each year, many with first-class honours. Grŵp Llandrillo Menai comprises Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.
