A former North Wales Police officer would have been dismissed without notice after a misconduct hearing found allegations against her were proven.
The hearing took place at Force Headquarters in Colwyn Bay and concerned former Police Constable Gillian Davies, who resigned from the force before the proceedings began.
It was alleged that PC Davies breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to confidentiality, orders and instructions, and discreditable conduct.
The allegations covered a period between 2017 and 2024 and included claims that she used her personal mobile phone to communicate with individuals involved in criminality, both while on and off duty.
She was also alleged to have used her personal device to share sensitive police intelligence, failed to complete mandatory data protection training, and repeatedly accessed police computer systems for non-policing purposes.
The hearing concluded that all allegations were found proved. As she had already resigned, the panel could not dismiss her from the force, but confirmed that had she remained an officer, she would have been dismissed without notice.
She will also be placed on the UK Police Barred List, preventing her from working in policing again as an officer, member of staff or volunteer.
Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison said the outcome demonstrated the force’s commitment to maintaining public confidence.
“All police officers are expected to display the highest standards and safeguard sensitive information,” he said.
“This is vital in order that our communities retain confidence in the professionalism of every officer carrying out their duties.
“Any instance where this is not the case will be dealt with robustly, and today’s hearing has concluded that had the officer not resigned, her dismissal would have been instant.
“We are determined to maintain the standards which the public rightly expect from our officers, staff and volunteers, both in and outside of the workplace.”
