North Wales Fire Service has warned of the dangers of candles in the home after sharing details of an incident in an Old Colwyn home.
The incident which occurred yesterday morning was caused as a result of lit candle setting a room alight after being left unattended. The control room took a local man through lifesaving advice until a crew was able to attend.
The photographs which have been shared widely on social media, serve as a warning to the possible consequences of fire which can so easily claim lives.
Fire officers said the man who contacted the service "had a very lucky escape".
Candle fires result in around 350 casualties in the UK each year, with nearly 40 per cent of all fires started by candles resulting in a death or injury.
