Parking rules to be enforced at Porth Eirias after challenges

Parking restrictions are soon to be enforced at Porth Eirias following years of challenges to the businesses that operate there and the people who live locally near the Dingle.

Conwy County Borough Council has appointed Creative Car Park Ltd to manage the customer parking at Porth Eirias.

The scheme is being put in place to help users of the restaurant, retail offer and watersports activities at Porth Eirias access parking spaces at the building’s car park. It is also designed to address issues of overnight parking at the site following feedback from residents.

Over the next couple of weeks, Creative Car Park will be completing the necessary arrangements to enforce parking rules at the site. This will include erecting signage, installing a payment kiosk and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera. The scheme is expected to be operational from mid August.

A 20 minute grace period for parking will enable Porth Eirias customers to make quick visits to the building to pick up tickets, drop off a bike at Evolution Bikes service centre, pick up some essential watersports equipment or grab a quick coffee at the cafe, and charges will be introduced for parking for longer periods.

Cyng Aaron Wynne, Cabinet Member for Economy and Culture said: “Having car park management in place will help those users of the facilities gain better access to parking on site and help support the businesses on site who rely on customers’ trade.”
