Some people in North Wales will now need planning permission to convert houses into holiday lets or second homes.
The change is aimed at addressing a local housing crisis caused by rising prices and a decrease in available properties.
Opponents argue that this move will devalue homes and make them harder to sell.
Gwynedd is the first area in Wales to implement this change, while the Eryri National Park authority plans to do the same in 2025, impacting on some parts of Conwy which fall within their planning juristriction.
