Police investigate alleged on-field assault at local football game

A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a Porthmadog football player during a match on Saturday.

The player was treated for concussion and a video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Police are investigating the incident and have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "North Wales Police are aware of a video circulating online relating to an incident that occurred at a football match between Treaddur Bay FC and Porthmadog FC.

"Officers have been making enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of this investigation a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask members of the public not to speculate whilst the investigation continues."
