North Wales Police has reassured the public there is no ongoing risk following a serious multi-vehicle collision in Llandudno which left five people needing hospital treatment.
Emergency services were called to the area near McDonald’s at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park shortly before 11am yesterday following reports of a collision involving several vehicles and pedestrians.
Two Wales Air Ambulance helicopters attended the scene alongside other emergency crews. Five people, including a driver and four pedestrians, were later taken to hospital for further assessment.
Following speculation circulating on social media, North Wales Police issued a statement confirming the incident was being treated as a road traffic collision and that there was no wider threat to the public.
The force said: "We are aware of speculation circulating on social media, and would like to reassure members of the public that this was a response to a road traffic collision and there is no risk to the public."
A police spokesperson added that officers received multiple calls shortly after 10.50am regarding the collision.
They are now appealing for witnesses, including anyone who saw the vehicle being driven before the crash or anyone who was in the area at the time.
Police are also asking anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage that may assist the investigation to come forward.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said crews were called at 10.52am and sent emergency resources including a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, a Duty Operations Manager and three emergency ambulances.
Advanced critical care support was provided by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service through two Wales Air Ambulance helicopters.
Five patients were transported by road to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
