Powys trip has fond memories for Bay's Steve Evans

The Seagulls travel to eighth-placed Llanidloes Town on Saturday for a fixture that rekindles happy memories for manager Steve Evans, who celebrated his debut as Seagulls manager at Victoria Park last season with a 6-1 win.“It was my first game in charge so I have fond memories of it and hopefully we can get a similar result,” he says, as the Bay go into the game defending a 14-match unbeaten record this season.

James Kirby will also remember the game for two goals and an assist which took his scoring tally for the club into double figures, and he will be aiming to be on target again to add to an impressive scoring record of almost a goal-a-game since signing for the Seagulls in August last year (32 goals in 38 games).

The ‘Daffs’, however, look to be a stronger outfit than the one that finished fourth bottom of the table last season.

Only the top four teams in the division have scored more goals than them this campaign and their climb into the top eight includes good wins over Buckley Town and Ruthin.

Their main danger man up front and top scorer is the experienced Jamie Breeze who had five years at Caernarfon Town, where he scored 85 goals and won two Cymru Alliance titles.

“We know it is going to be a tough, tough game like it always is down there, but we’ll do the work on Wednesday and Thursday and be ready for Saturday,” said Steve Evans.
