Proposals for a new Public Space Protection Order dealing with Dog Control are due to go before Conwy County Councillors next week.
The Dog Control Orders, which the Council introduced in 2012, became a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in October 2017. This PSPO is in place until 20th October 2020 when the proposed the new Order would come into force.
The current Order includes: Dog Exclusion Zones (e.g. beaches, playing fields), Dog Fouling, Dogs on Leads, Dogs on Leads by Direction
The Council first held a consultation about the proposals in 2018. And a further consultation about amendments to the proposals, including adding and removing some dog exclusion areas and lifting some seasonal exclusions, took place in July this year. Over 150 people took part in the latest consultation.
All the feedback has been taken into account and now the final proposals will go before Councillors on the Economy and Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 12 October and then to the Cabinet for a final decision.
