St David’s Hospice is calling on schools, businesses, community groups and individuals across North Wales to put the kettle on and help raise vital funds through its Big Hospice Brew campaign this October.
The annual fundraising campaign begins on Thursday, October 1, but supporters can hold their own Big Hospice Brew at any time during the month.
People can host an event wherever suits them, whether that is at home, in the garden, workplace, school, hairdressers or a local community venue. Every cup of tea, slice of cake and donation will help St David’s Hospice continue providing specialist palliative care and support to local patients and their families.
Rhian Jacobs, Fundraising, Events and Campaigns Manager at St David’s Hospice, said the campaign was a simple way for people to come together while supporting an important local service.
“The Big Hospice Brew is a great way for people to come together and support a cause that means so much to our local community,” she said.
“Every cup poured, cake shared and donation made helps us continue to provide care and support to local people and their families when they need it most.”
The campaign is running throughout October to coincide with Hospice Awareness Week, which takes place from October 5 to 11.
As well as raising money, the hospice hopes the campaign will help raise awareness of the range of support provided by hospices, from inpatient care and symptom management to family support and wellbeing programmes.
Anyone wanting to take part can register through the St David’s Hospice website or by calling 01492 879058.
Every registered host will receive a fundraising pack containing ideas for activities and entertainment, as well as recipe suggestions from hospice supporters.
St David’s Hospice says that whether it is a small gathering with friends, a workplace coffee morning or a larger community event, every Big Hospice Brew can make a difference to local families.
