August 11, 2020 - 4876 views

Today sees the re-opening of leisure centres, fitness and sports facilities in Colwyn Bay and across Conwy county.

Local sites opening from today include Colwyn Leisure Centre, Eirias Events Centre, Llandudno Swim Centre, Abergele Leisure Centre, Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre and Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre.

Initially the swimming pool remain closed in the Colwyn Leisure Centre and at the Llandudno Swim Centre the fitness suite will remain closed.

The John Bright Leisure Centre will open next Monday 17th August.

The council say that due to the layout of each seperate building not every facility will be able to open up immediately.

All equipment will be cleaned regularly throughout the day by staff and social distancing guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Parts of the building will be temporarily closed throughout the day to allow staff to carry out deep cleaning of the equipment and surfaces.

One way systems will be implemented in all sites where this is possible to allow safe entry and exit, the fitness suite equipment will be stationed at least 2 metres apart and there will be markings on the floor for exercise classes.

The Outdoor 4G pitch at Eirias will be available for clubs, but not private bookings. Any club wanting to book will need to follow their national governing body guidelines and adhere to the venues guidelines.

Pre-booking will be required to ensure that everyone who wishes to use the facilities has an equal chance of doing so.
