North Wales regional rugby club, RGC, has signed 24-year-old New Zealand lock/loose forward James Brown for the upcoming season.
Brown, who played for Te Puna in New Zealand, brings experience from elite development systems. Prior to his tenure at Te Puna, he came through the Auckland Rugby Academy pathway and represented The Blues U20s.
Excited to join RGC, Brown looks forward to contributing with his carrying game and line-out skills.
Speaking on his move Brown said: “After a good few chats with Alun (Pritchard) and having played against Jesse Williams, I’m super keen to make the move across the world and get stuck in with the RGC boys.
"I’m excited to see what we can achieve this upcoming season.”
When asked about what he will add to the squad, Brown said: “I feel I can bring a good go-forward carry game with a solid line-out IQ. I’m not the biggest fan of talking about myself, so hopefully my performances can do the talking.”
General Manager Alun Pritchard on the key addition "Second Row was highlighted as a key recruitment area for us, so we’re delighted to have signed James.
"He is a lineout caller who also brings a physical intensity to his game, which is exactly what we were looking for. James recently played against our very own Jessie Williams in the NZ regional competition and ‘Scout Jessie’ gave us some really good feedback. That combined with the video footage and James’ own want to develop and improve made the decision to sign him an easy one to make."
RGC have 4 pre-season games, including Chester at home on Saturday 23rd August. 2pm kick off.
