Royal Mail promises action after Llandudno failures

The Royal Mail have issued an apology to Llandudno residents for severe delays in delivering important letters like NHS appointments.

The delays were attributed to high levels of sickness absence among staff members.

Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders raised concerns after a whistleblower’s video exposed the issue.

She called for an investigation to prevent similar delays in the future, and now hopes that managers put plans in place to stop this happening again.

Commenting on the apology from Royal Mail, Mrs. Finch-Saunders said: “I welcome Royal Mail’s apology and explanation. However, serious questions need to be raised and investigated regarding how the unit was allowed to reach this level of delay, as well as the impact on residents who are not receiving important correspondence, such as hospital appointment letters.

“Lessons can be learned to ensure that situations like this are better prepared for in the future, and that the mail service is able to function at normal levels.

“I would like to once again commend the whistle-blower,  or whistle-blowers,  who brought this issue to my attention. However, it shouldn’t have taken their courage and my campaign to make the Royal Mail improve the standard of service”.
