Conwy County Borough Council has issued an update on the new walking and cycling path from Glan Conwy to Llandudno Junction.
Funded mostly by UK Government, the 2km finished route will include a 3m wide shared-use path, two new bridges crossing over the Conwy Valley Railway line and the Afon Ganol, and environmentally sensitive lighting to make it suitable for year-round use.
The work is being carries out by Jennings Building and Civil Engineering Ltd.
The first phase of the work included improving the path from Conwy Railway bridge to the RSPB carpark and beginning the new path passing beyond the visitors’ centre. Between March and September, only limited work took place outside of sensitive areas to avoid disturbing birds within the reserve.
The Railway bridge is being constructed off-site, with installation scheduled for Spring 2026.
To prepare for the bridge installation, work within Green Seat layby will start on Monday 19 January. The layby will be closed until May 2026.
Conwy County Borough Council are working with NMWTRA and Welsh Government on the onward route from Green Seat layby to the centre of Glan Conwy.
Local residents can look forward to a much safer route into Llandudno Junction, Conwy and Llandudno .
