Colwyn Bay Manager Steve Evans is hoping the Seagulls can chalk up their first Cymru Premier win when Europa Conference League representatives Haverfordwest County travel to the 4 Crosses Arena on Saturday (Sept 2nd, 2:3pm kick off).

Although The Bluebirds proudly flew the flag for Wales in Europe in July and had a good win over Shkendija of North Macedonia, before losing 2-3 on aggregate to Torshavn of the Faroe Islands, they have had three draws and a defeat in their four league games so far, and were beaten 4-0 by a Cardiff City Xl in the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Similar to the Bay their forwards have been struggling to find the net. They have scored three goals in those five domestic games and two of those were from wing back Ricky Watts, who scored the two late goals on Tuesday night to snatch a dramatic 2-2 draw at Barry Town to earn himself a place in the Cymru Leagues Team of the Week.

However, he is getting married on Saturday and won’t be available for the Colwyn Bay game.

Manager Tony Pennock, the former Stockport County and Wigan Athletic goalkeeper admitted this week: “We are creating chances but not making the keeper make saves. It is something we are working on to improve, and we will.”

Optimistic Seagulls boss Steve Evans said: “We can take a lot of positives out of Tuesday’s game (against TNS) and as I said last Saturday we are not a million miles away. We’ll take that belief into Saturday’s game and hopefully get that first win.”

It would be good to see Tom McCready get some minutes on the pitch after being on the bench for Tuesday’s game against TNS following his ankle surgery.
