The Seagulls can give manager Steve Evans an early birthday present by extending their unbeaten league record this season to 24 games in Saturday’s ‘derby’ game at home to third-bottom Conwy Borough (2pm kick off).
The manager turns 44 on Sunday and it has been a tremendous first full season in management for the former Wrexham and Welsh international.
A win on Saturday would put the Bay just six games away from being the first second tier side to go through a league campaign unbeaten since Rhyl did it to win promotion from the old Cymru Alliance in 2012/13.
Conwy’s only win in their last 12 league outings was against bottom side Penrhyncoch in early January, although they have had five draws in that time, and only Penrhyncoch and Llanidloes hace conceded more goals this season.
The Bay, who are just eight league goals away from scoring their 200th since returning to Welsh football, won 3-0 at the Morfa in August with goals from Alex Downes, Tom McCready and James Kirby in front a big ‘derby’ crowd of 723. They’ll be looking for another good home crowd to get behind them again on Saturday.
Holywell Town stayed in contention with their 19th consecutive win on Wednesday night, and they still have a game in hand, so the Bay boss knows his side have to stay focused.
