Colwyn Bay Football Club are pulling out the stops to help tackle food poverty this Christmas during one of its biggest games of the season.

As part of their game against Airbus Broughton tonight (Friday 6th December,) the club has joined up with the Conwy Foodbank to ask supporters to bring along some much needed donations so they can be redistributed the local families ahead of the holiday season.

The organisation was set up as Conwy Food Share in January 2011, taking over from Cymru Community Food Share which was one of the first providers of food parcels to the needy in North Wales.

A list of items needed is listed below and a collection will be taken before the Welsh Cup tie against Airbus UK. The match kicks off at the Four Crosses Arena on Llanellian Road at 7.45pm.

Colwyn Bay director of football Neil Coverley said: “The community is at the very heart of this football club. We have been grateful for the support we have received from the community in our first season in the Cymru North and we feel it’s important to as a club that we give something back".

“There should be a good crowd for what promises to be an exciting Cup tie against Airbus and hopefully the fans can play their part, not only by backing the team on the pitch, but also supporting this worthwhile cause.

The club has said that that the foodbank already has plenty of beans, pasta, soup and peas so if contributors could look to donate other items it would be appreciated.
