Secondary school attendance rates in Wales have improved, with an overall absence drop from 12.0% to 10.9% in the latest academic year.

The percentage of pupils missing more than 10% of sessions fell from 37.1% to 33.0%.

Additional funding of £7m was been provided to support attendance and re-engagement efforts, including £2m for school enrichment opportunities and £3m for Family Engagement Officers.

FEOs work directly with schools and families to address attendance barrier and provide targeted support to identify underlying causes of absence and help families access appropriate services and resources.
