Police are warning residents in Rhos-on-Sea to be on their guard after a car was broken into over the weekend and a mobile phone was stolen.

The incident which occurred on Llanerch Road West has been one in a string of recent thefts in the village.

These incidents have occurred after owners failed to secure their cars properly by not checking that the doors including the boot space has been locked.

Bayside discussed the incidents a number of weeks ago with PCSO Chris Livesey from the Community Safety Unit at North Wales Police.

Chris said: "It's a shame that these incidents keep happening as they are very much opportunistic crimes. Thieves are clearly trying door handles of cars until they find a vehicle which has been left open.

"Please check that you have locked your vehicle securely otherwise there's the chance you might be a victim of a theft."

North Wales Police have asked residents to be aware and to pass word to neighbours and friends about the incident.

Anyone with any information regarding the theft should call North Wales Police on 101.
