Communities have gathered to remember loved ones at St. David’s Hospice 'Tree of Lights' ceremonies in Rhos-on-Sea and Llandudno.

This evening's memorable switch-on event in Rhos-on-Sea was led by the Rotary Club when the tree was lit on the Cayley Embankment in front of a large crowd.

Trees will also be lit in Bodffordd, Anglesey on Thursday December 11 and in Betws-y-Coed at the Garden Nursery on Sunday December 7.

Shey Jane who is bereavement counsellor at St David’s Hospice said: "Losing someone you love is an incredibly challenging and heartbreaking experience. While grief is a natural part of life, it can feel extremely overwhelming.

"I feel very humbled and privileged that my role at the hospice allows me to offer comfort and support to families and friends of lost loved ones in our community during such difficult times.

"While many people find all the support they need from friends and family, others may not be able to do so. It is so important that St David’s Hospice can offer a safe space for those who feel more comfortable sharing their difficult feelings with someone they are not emotionally connected to. Services like counselling are only possible thanks to the generosity of supporters like you.

"Honouring the memory of a loved one can be a powerful way to navigate the journey of grief. By reflecting on shared experiences, celebrating their life through meaningful rituals, and finding ways to keep their presence alive in your heart, you can create a lasting connection that brings comfort.

"Whether it’s through storytelling, revisiting cherished places, or simply holding onto special items, these acts can help you heal and maintain an enduring bond.

"This time of year is a natural time for many of us to reflect on the memories of those we have loved so dearly. St David’s Hospice’s Tree of Lights gives us an opportunity to dedicate a light to the memory of our loved ones."
