Snow and ice for the county and North Wales this week

Snow flurries and ice could be a feature of the North Wales weather as the new week approaches.

This afternoon, the Met Office revised their forecast suggesting that light snow showers could come in across Conwy County as early as Monday.

However, the greatest risk of snow increases from midnight in the early hours of Tuesday 16th January until 23.59 on the same day.

A yellow weather warning for ice and snow has now been issued and the emergency services have urged motorists and residents to take note if attempting extensive travel on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be impacted.

There is also a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off and snow-covered roads may lead to stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

A high ridge of pressure comes in from Friday, meaning that cold temperatures will begin to subside as the weekend approaches.
