A man has been arrested following a serious public order incident in Holyhead.

Officers from North Wales Police were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday to reports of a disturbance in the car park of an Aldi supermarket in the town.

On arrival, a 20-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault and intentional strangulation. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police have confirmed they are aware that images of those involved have been shared widely on social media. Officers are urging the public to act responsibly, warning that sharing material which could prejudice an ongoing investigation or future court proceedings may itself be an offence.

A spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing and appealed for anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact North Wales Police via 101 or their live webchat, quoting reference 26000238767.

The incident has raised concern locally, with officers continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
