North Wales is bracing itself for windy conditions during the first half of Thursday morning.

A spell of very strong southwesterly winds will occur during the early hours of Thursday, easing from the west during the morning.

Gusts of 50 mph are likely fairly widely with some gusts of 60 mph in exposed locations, including roads and bridges in North Wales, as well as roads passing over high ground in Northern England and southern Scotland.

These gusts could be strong enough to blow over a few trees, given that they are currently in full leaf. Disruption may be anticipated on high ground and on the Britannia Bridge crossing the Menai Straits.

The warning is currently in place from 01:00 to 09:00 in the early hours of Thursday night into Thursday morning.

However, dependent on conditions the warning may extend later into Thursday and moderate breezes should be expected later in the day.
