Despite it being the middle of the summer, anticipation for the colder months and seasonal celebrations reached fever pitch today in Llandudno today.
At a special launch event at Venue Cymru the cast of this year’s panto Sleeping Beauty took to the Promenade to give the press and public a flavour of what to expect this coming December.
The star of the show Sherrie Hewson was on fine form answering questions from the assembled guests including Bayside's Jeff Pearson and Ronnie Roberts.
The star of ITV’s Loose Women, Coronation Street and Benidorm entertained and dazzled the audience and gave a glimpse into Nurse Temple Savage, the character she will play in the family friendly panto.
Over the years Sherrie has confirmed her rightful place as one of TV most loved and well known celebrities and has connections with Conwy going back many years.
Joining her as the slightly hesitant and somewhat eccentric Muddles, was actor and renowned ventriloquist Kieran Powell who has performed in pantomime for many years and has a wonderful reputation for keeping audiences in stitches.
Completing the line-up was Llandudno’s favourite Dame, the fabulous Nigel Ellacott, starring as The Queen. Nigel is no stranger to Venue Cymru and Sleeping Beauty will mark his fourth pantomime appearance in the town.
Packed with all of the traditional pantomime ingredients North Wales’ audiences have come to expect, Sleeping Beauty will be spectacularly brought to life with an abundance of jaw-dropping dance, side-splitting comedy, sensational song and plenty of festive magic.
The plot will keep audience glued to their seats and whether you are 6 or 60 years old this lavish production from Qdos Entertainment productions will be a feast for the eyes and ears.
When a beautiful Princess is given a sixteenth birthday present by her evil godmother she is placed under a cruel curse and forced to sleep for 100 years. Can true love survive and the handsome Prince Charming break the spell? Can the Princess’ friends help save her and who will outwit the evil Enchantress and foil her wicked plans?
Sarah Ecob, Venue Cymru’s General Manager said: “We’re thrilled that Sherrie is heading back to Venue Cymru for the festive season. Nigel has already proved himself very popular with the Llandudno audiences and Kieran will bring something new to our stage for 2019.
"Panto is such an important part of people’s Christmas’ and giving them a first class show is paramount, this casting is only going to reiterate what our audiences have come to expect and love from a Qdos Entertainment production.”
